CASA’s Aurora House program is a transitional housing program that services six women who are homeless and have a substance addiction.  On site staffing is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and includes a substance abuse case manager and resident manager.    The women typically enter the program after being in a substance abuse inpatient program at the Alcohol Treatment Center (ATC) for 12 to 14 days.  Aurora House provides an extended support structure in an environment that is safe and supportive.  This in turn allows the women the opportunity to increase their skills before moving into permanent housing in the community, helps to decrease incidents of relapse and allows for more housing options and job opportunities.

In an effort to employ residents with special needs, CASA received funding from the City of Raleigh’s Community Enhancement Program, along with funding from Wake County, for the creation of a landscape maintenance division.  CASA’s new landscape division, Community Property Alternatives (CPA) provides an opportunity for resident employees to gain job skills, while supplementing their income, and to gain a sense of pride through their work.  The work team consists of nine employees and one crew leader and maintains about 34 CASA properties in addition to several outside contracts in Raleigh.

If you are interested in having CPA provide landscaping services for your property, you are invited to contact Mr. Phil Brickle at 623-4087 or 754-9960, ext. 23, to arrange for a free quote.
