Our History

CASA was originally formed in 1992 to bridge the gap in the community’s housing needs for persons with disabilities through a partnership with Wake County Human Services. In the years since, CASA has extended services to provide permanent housing to others in the community who also need affordable rental housing, including essential workers like teachers and firefighters who are often priced out of downtown neighborhoods.

Today, CASA has developed and manages 48 rental properties in North Carolina throughout Wake, Durham and Orange counties. More than 1,000 individuals have found affordable permanent housing through our efforts. Moreover, these tenants have achieved successful lives, becoming contributing members of their community to the benefit of everyone.
