Spring Board Tour

On Saturday, March 13th, CASA’s Board of Directors took a bus tour of 14 of CASA’s properties located in Wake County. The group of 10 Board Members toured a unit at Oak Hill, a 14-unit apartment complex for persons with disabilities. Later, the group heard from David,*a tenant at Hope Crest, our first 10-unit property for persons who have been chronically homeless. David shared his appreciation for his job with CPA, CASA’s landscaping business, and for his apartment. The tour ended at George’s Mews, where Board Members were impressed with the spacious units and prime location of these workforce apartments, available to local workers earning less than $36,000.

Throughout the tour, CASA CEO Debra King and CFO Debbie White shared with the Board the stories of CASA tenants whose lives have been changed because of finding safe, stable housing. Long-time Board Member Brad Thompson thanked Debbie and Debra for giving the board the opportunity “to remember why we’re really doing this.” CASA’s newest Board Member and its first from Durham, Rob Griffin, said “The range of locations and overall level of quality of the units was impressive. The most memorable moment had to be hearing David speak about his home and his job through CASA.”

We would like to thank all the Board Members for their participation, and give a special thanks to Carolina Livery, which provided outstanding transportation service.
