Raleigh’s Bringing Neighbors Home pilot program is a major step in addressing homelessness in Wake County by providing direct housing assistance to individuals and families experiencing unsheltered homelessness. With a $4.7 million investment, the initiative focuses on three key strategies:
- Providing Housing Assistance – Helping 45 households transition into stable housing with financial aid and support services.
- Expanding Homelessness Services – Strengthening partnerships with local nonprofits and increasing funding for services that prevent and address homelessness.
- Building a Coordinated Response – Improving collaboration between housing providers, social services, and community organizations to create sustainable solutions.
The program has already made an impact for these 45 households. These folks have been moved from encampments around Raleigh into secure housing and have been a part of a streamlined process to access resources that promote long-term stability.
At CASA, we know that housing is the foundation for stability. Like this initiative, we follow a Housing First approach, ensuring that people in need have a safe, affordable place to live before addressing other challenges.
CASA’s King’s Ridge apartments is a key housing solution connected to this effort. Within the next month, five individuals from the pilot program will move into King’s Ridge, where they will receive ongoing support from onsite CASA staff and any of our 30 community partners. CASA staff and partners work closely with residents, providing case management and supportive services that address healthcare, behavioral health, recovery, employment, education, childcare, and more. By ensuring a smooth transition from encampments into stable housing, King’s Ridge serves as a model for long-term solutions to homelessness.
The success of Raleigh’s initiative highlights the urgent need for more permanent, affordable housing. CASA is committed to working alongside the city and community partners to create long-term solutions that prevent homelessness before it begins.
