CASA is excited to announce plans to develop new construction multifamily housing in Durham. We recently received final approval from the federal government to develop the Carroll Street Durham Army Reserve Center site into permanent homes for Durham families and individuals living with disabilities who have experienced homelessness.
“We are in the very early stages of project planning and look forward to creating a transformative community that will be a long-term community asset,” says Jess Brandes, CASA’s Senior Director of Real Estate Development.
Construction will be a multi-year effort, and CASA expects to welcome the first 16 households home to Carroll Street in 2021.
“This is an incredible opportunity for the community to end homelessness for individuals and families in concert with Durham’s comprehensive affordable housing efforts,” says CASA CEO Mary Jean Seyda.
Please see a letter sent to the community and some FAQs about the Carroll Street development.
The Neighborhood Information Meeting scheduled for Sept 13 at the Community Family Life and Recreation Center at Lyon Park has been cancelled, due to Hurricane Florence.
If you have further questions about CASA’s Carroll Street development, stay tuned for opportunities to provide input. We will have at least one community meeting, and we are available by phone or email. Feel free to contact Jess Brandes at email hidden; JavaScript is required or 919-307-3429.
