On March 17, a huge crowd packed Tucker Street to enjoy live music and beer trucks, and to support CASA’s affordable housing mission. CASA was chosen as the nonprofit partner for Milk Bar’s second annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party, and attendees helped CASA earn more than $2,800 from the event.

Volunteers from Reunion Marketing and Society Realty staffed the CASA tent where partygoers could buy event t-shirts, St. Patty’s Day green beads, water, and sodas. In addition to the money raised from the sale of these items, the event organizers at Milk Bar donated more than 10% of their sales to CASA.

Other restaurants in the Bunch of 5s Hospitality Co. have raised money for CASA over the past year through proceeds from various drink specials and a Friendsgiving event hosted in November 2017. The group includes five downtown Raleigh eateries – Milk Bar, Anchor Bar, MOFU Shoppe, Dogwood Bar & Eatery, and Southern Charred.

“We’re so grateful for everyone who worked together to bring CASA this pot o’ gold!” said CASA CFO Debbie White. The money raised from the St. Patrick’s Day Block Party will be enough to provide one CASA household with safe, affordable housing for a full year.
