“When you have more than you need, build a bigger table not a higher fence.” – Unknown
This quote epitomizes Kerry and Stewart Witzeman, two of CASA’s most ardent supporters and our December Partners of the Month!
Kerry and Stewart are not only deeply passionate about CASA’s work, they are truly our partners in furthering our mission. As a retired kindergarten teacher, Kerry knows there is nothing more important to a child’s life than the sense of security and stability a home provides. Stewart praises the pragmatism and core values that make CASA housing permanent and sustainable.
In 2015, not long after moving to Raleigh, this generous couple started CASA’s Witzeman Fund as a dedicated source of capital to help us compete in the Triangle’s competitive housing market. The Witzeman Fund provides critical bridge funds to purchase land and buildings. Already, The Witzeman Fund has helped build and remodel apartment communities in Raleigh and Durham. The Witzemans are particularly interested in the growth of affordable 2 and 3 bedroom units for families.
In addition to making their own gifts, Kerry and Stewart introduce CASA to many of their friends and family members. They are the kind of partners that ask us, “What is your biggest challenge right now? What do you need?”
This year, Kerry and Stewart are CASA’s Gift of Home Holiday Campaign challenge grant donors – pledging to unlock a $20,000 gift if we meet our goal of $100,000 before the year’s end. These funds will cover the cost of keeping 40 households in safe, affordable and sustainable housing in 2019!
Kerry & Stewart’s passion for quality, affordable housing helps improve the quality of life for many of our neighbors in need. We simply can never thank them enough for their investment in and commitment to CASA housing.
