Last year, CASA met some of the fun and passionate folks from the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR) and their nonprofit foundation, the REALTOR® Foundation of Wake County. Since then, both organizations have been incredible partners and friends. We’re so excited to highlight them as CASA’s February Partner of the Month!
Our first project with these fine people was a video project, part of the RRAR’s Affordable Housing study, for which they interviewed CASA households about their experiences. You can see those videos and their incredible study on their website. Casey Angel, RRAR’s Director of Communications, led that project and is now a member of CASA’s Fundraising Committee.
Since October, the REALTOR® Foundation has sponsored six CASA apartments to help new tenants furnish their homes with items from The Green Chair Project. (Here’s the story of one of those lucky tenants – and stay tuned for another story in next week’s e-news!). The Foundation’s Director of Operations Heather Thompson coordinates corporate sponsors who foot the bill for furniture and other supplies, a brand new bed, and moving costs. Volunteers from the sponsor company come out to set up the new apartments – doing everything from assembling the bed frames to hanging pictures on the wall. Tenants who have participated have told us it’s like a dream to walk in and find their new apartment looking so much like a home.
