The days following Thanksgiving are focused on shopping and spending for many. Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Americans spend hundreds on gifts for friends and family. While you’re giving to those you care about, take some time to give to those who aren’t fortunate enough to have a stable home to enjoy the holidays.

This November 28, thousands of people will be participating in Giving Tuesday, the worldwide day of giving. This Giving Tuesday, you can help change the world with your gift to one of Raleigh, North Carolina’s non-profits, like CASA.

Make a Difference this Giving Tuesday

There are countless ways you can give back on Giving Tuesday. Help someone in need by donating to a cause you care about. Any amount can make a difference. You can also give the gift of time. Spend that Tuesday volunteering, teaching, or sharing some skill. Even spreading the word can get more people involved in the movement.

The History of Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact as a follow-up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping holidays. The founders wanted their new day to become the unofficial kick-off to the biggest giving season, the month leading up to the winter holidays.

Giving Tuesday has since spread to 98 countries across the world. In 2016, participants raised over $177 million. By joining the movement, you can make 2017 an even bigger year for giving.

Donate to CASA and Other Raleigh Non-Profits on Giving Tuesday

Give the gift of a home this Giving Tuesday with a donation to CASA. CASA is a non-profit in Raleigh, North Carolina, working under a simple premise: The solution to homelessness is housing. By providing high-quality, affordable housing for people who are living with disability and poverty, CASA hopes to put an end to homelessness in North Carolina.

Despite the fact that CASA provides nearly 500 affordable apartments, over 1,000 people are still living without the dignity of a home in Wake, Durham, and Orange counties. Your gift helps us change that.

The donations we receive help us keep housing affordable for those in need. You can also give your time to CASA, lending a hand in our office or assisting with apartment maintenance. However you choose to help, you’ll be changing lives for those who have experienced homelessness.
