CASA is proud to introduce our June Partner of the Month, the Forest at Duke!

The Forest at Duke in Durham is vibrant, not-for-profit 501c3 continuing care retirement community, in operation since 1992. They encourage residents to give their time, talents, and money, and believe that social responsibility gives meaning to their community. They give residents access to all sorts of amazing opportunities—including giving to great causes. CASA has been lucky enough to receive generous funding from The Forest at Duke three years in a row.

The Forest at Duke supports CASA’s Denson Apartments for Veterans in Durham, named for former CASA Board member and Retired Federal Judge Alexander B. Denson, who now lives at the Forest at Duke with his wife, Mary. The Denson Apartments offer 23 one-bedroom, one-bath apartments to veterans living with disabilities who have experienced homelessness. Grant funding provided by the Forest at Duke supports direct housing costs for the community.

April Ravelli, the Forest at Duke’s Director of Sales and Marketing, says, “The Forest at Duke believes in a community that fosters growth, diversity, compassion, and progress, not only within our walls but in the larger Durham community. We are proud to partner with an incredible organization like CASA!”

Mary Jean Seyda, CASA CEO, says, “The Forest at Duke is an incredible partner to CASA. We are so humbled by their generosity—it’s truly made a big difference in the lives of our veteran tenants in Durham.”

Thank you, Forest at Duke, for your commitment to social responsibility and for your belief in the power of affordable housing!
