We are thrilled to recognize United Way of the Greater Triangle (UWGT) as CASA’s May 2020 Partner of the Month!
CASA has been a proud United Way-Funded Agency since 2014, receiving annual support for our Permanent Supportive Housing program. UWGT is “committed to eradicating poverty and increasing social mobility through the power of partnerships.” They live out their mission by supporting agencies in the Greater Triangle doing the work on the ground – identifying the most urgent local needs and then tracking outcomes across the Triangle as we work together to solve problems and improve our communities. They made an incredible commitment of $25,000 to support CASA’s affordable housing mission this year.
Rooted firmly in the community with a reputation for supporting effective solutions, UWGT was uniquely positioned to respond to the COVID-19 crisis when it arrived in the Triangle. They launched into action immediately with an online campaign and telethon to raise money to meet the growing need, and were some of the very first people in our community to get resources directly into the hands of the people who needed it the most. Their Rapid Response Fund has raised over $1 million so far. That has translated into 250,000+ meals, rental assistance for nearly 1700 households, educational resources for 1265 children, and emergency medical assistance for over 20,000 people.
CASA was among the first agencies granted funds from UWGT’s Rapid Response Fund in April, and we immediately put the resources to work to support CASA tenants with rental assistance, groceries, and utility bills. 61 local organizations have received funding during the COVID crisis, thanks to UWGT.
