CASA welcomed a new partner in our ecosystem: Rocky Mount-based nonprofit Ripe for Revival. Their mission to “reconnect the food system through practical creative solutions that empower every member of the food supply cycle, from farmers and makers to nonprofits and neighbors” aligns with CASA’s solution focused approach and we are thrilled to support residents, together.
To say they’ve been a partner at King’s Ridge since day 1 would not be an exaggeration! Ripe Revival joined us for King’s Ridge ribbon cutting in May, bringing their trailer, filled with food essentials for residents. Outfitted like a mobile grocery store—complete with boxes, shelves, a refrigerator, and suggested pricing—the Ripe for Revival trailer has quickly become a Friday afternoon staple. Residents select fruits, vegetables, dairy, meats, and even sample new items in a dignified, accessible, shopper-friendly setting.
In July, the Ripe for Revival team debuted their new Wake County Mobile Market bus at King’s Ridge. Just like the trailer, the bus is designed for accessibility, allowing all residents the independence to browse and shop for the food items they need. It now visits King’s Ridge weekly for two hours as part of Ripe for Revival’s pay-what-you-can model aimed at addressing both food insecurity and food accessibility.
While King’s Ridge is located on a bus line and within walking distance of a grocery store, these options aren’t always practical for every household. This partnership offers an alternative that meets residents where they are and gives them real choice in their food options.
