At CASA, our mission is simple but powerful: to provide access to stable, affordable housing for people who are homeless or at risk by developing and managing rental communities. We serve Raleigh, Chapel Hill and the surrounding Triangle region, including Durham, Wake, and Orange counties. By building and managing high-quality, affordable homes, CASA is helping to reduce long-term homelessness and transform lives through affordable housing programs.

Why Volunteering Matters

Volunteering isn’t just about showing up—it’s about contributing to real, lasting change. Whether you’re helping assemble welcome-home baskets, supporting property clean-ups, or assisting with lease-up events, each action matters. As highlighted in national research, volunteers help build stronger communities and themselves: volunteering offers improved well-being, stronger connections, and the chance to see tangible results.

By offering your time through our nonprofit volunteer opportunities, you become part of the solution in addressing housing instability and making a difference for families, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.

How Volunteering Supports Our Mission

  • At CASA, new housing developments such as “King’s Ridge” bring permanent, supportive homes for those experiencing homelessness.
  • Affordable housing underpins stability: when rent remains affordable and supports are in place, residents are better able to rebuild their lives.
  • Volunteers add essential capacity—helping with property clean-ups, resident welcome events, community gardening, and more.

What It Means for Residents, Team & Community

For Residents

A safe, affordable home is more than shelter—it’s dignity, stability, opportunity. By volunteering, you help ensure that residents of Durham, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh get the chance to thrive rather than just survive.

For the CASA Team

Volunteers bring fresh energy, new skill-sets, and help stretch our resources so our staff can focus on high‐touch service. You become part of the CASA family—supporting our team’s efforts to serve more people, faster.

For the Wider Community

When fewer people are homeless, when families have stable homes and children succeed in school, everyone benefits: the neighborhoods become stronger, local economies improve, and the cycle of long-term homelessness is challenged. Volunteering with CASA connects you to that broader impact.
