Homelessness

Homelessness is steadily increasing across the United States. In 2023, more than 653,000 people on a single night were either in emergency shelters, transitional housing, or sleeping on the street, a 12% increase on the previous year. Homelessness in Raleigh, NC is no different.

Homelessness in Raleigh, NC

Figures for Raleigh and Wake estimate that 2022 saw 1,534 citizens without a home, but this number is considered an undercount and could be much higher. Unfortunately, as more people lose their homes, the need for affordable housing increases. That’s where organizations such as CASA become a vital lifeline for those on the street.

CASA Housing Projects

For over 30 years, CASA has aimed to reduce homelessness by acquiring and building affordable housing. In Wake County alone, we have provided more than 350 apartments to those in need.

Housing for Families

Around 30% of the homeless population in the U.S. is made up of family units with both adults and children. Homelessness has a huge impact on children as they experience high levels of behavioral and emotional issues and often fall behind their peers. CASA Housing For Families and our Workforce Housing program provide a permanent affordable solution that keeps families together and out of emergency housing.
