We are so grateful to kick off the new year by recognizing our friends and supporters at The Home Depot Foundation as our January 2020 Partner of the Month!

For years, The Home Depot Foundation has supported the development of new affordable housing for veterans with substantial financial gifts to build new apartments for veterans who have experienced homelessness. Team Depot, the company’s associate-led volunteer force, has sent volunteers and resources our way to help with a major landscaping project at our veteran property in Raleigh and renovated a CASA home for a veteran and her family in Wake Forest.

Just before Christmas, Team Depot completed their biggest project yet – the total renovation of the community room at CASA’s Denson Apartments for Veterans in Durham. They replaced the floors and painted the walls in this much-used space, and they added all kinds of extras we couldn’t have purchased without their help – including a coffee station for meetings, new tables and chairs for events, a microwave and a desk for staff and volunteer use, a new screen for presentations and community gatherings, and a Christmas tree just in time for our holiday celebration. The veteran tenants already have big plans for how they’d like to use the room – movie night, anyone? – and the staff can’t wait to host meetings and welcome new friends to the space.

The Home Depot Foundation and Team Depot embody the values of giving back and corporate philanthropy. They are truly a part of their communities, putting resources and man/woman-power behind projects that directly serve and improve the lives of veterans. We’re so grateful to have them as partners. Thank you!
